Doctors at Okhmatdyt saved 9-month-old Eva from Moldova.
Her mother brought her to Ukraine for treatment of a congenital heart condition. But after one of the interventions, an intracerebral hemorrhage occurred with the formation of a large hematoma and the development of hydrocephalus.
Little Eva's condition deteriorated rapidly. Neurosurgeons at Okhmatdyt urgently joined the treatment.
In total, about 40 specialists from various fields were involved in saving the child: neurosurgeons, intensive care specialists, radiologists, infectious disease specialists, neurologists, endocrinologists, hemostasis specialists, and others. Teamwork made it possible to provide comprehensive professional care.
We provided all the necessary consumables for complex neurosurgical interventions, which allowed treatment to proceed without delay.
More than a month and a half of intensive treatment – and Eva returned home to Moldova, where she continues to recover.
This story is a unique case that confirms the professionalism of Ukrainian doctors and proves: Ukrainian medicine provides highly specialized care at an international level. A child from abroad received comprehensive life-saving treatment in Ukraine – during the most difficult time for the country.
Parents are ready to bring their children to Ukraine amidst war, blackouts, and rocket attacks because they know: here work specialists who fight for every child's life – regardless of the country.
Great gratitude to the team of doctors at Okhmatdyt, to everyone involved in little Eva's treatment.
Your professionalism and resilience are the pride of Ukrainian medicine.
Special thanks to the benefactors. It is thanks to your support that such urgent rescue of children's lives is possible.
