New life stories

Every day we read news about dead and injured children, each one is heartbreaking.
During the years of the full-scale invasion, the All-Ukrainian charity organisation ‘Mother and Baby’ saved thousands of children. All the stories are painful, but there is one that is impossible to remember without tears.

We will never forget this incredibly tragic case of the family of the girl Sophia, who became the first peaceful victim of the war.

The family was travelling out of Kiev, but their car was mercilessly shelled. The parents, 10-year-old daughter Polina and 7-year-old son Semyon were killed, only the eldest daughter, 13-year-old girl Sofia, survived and was severely wounded in the neck. It was urgent to act. Together with doctors we fought for her with all our strength.

We remember how worried we were about whether we would be able to safely transport the girl for treatment abroad, whether we would be able to do it in time or whether there would be any results. Today with gratitude to the hospital that received Sofia we say: Yes, everything was successful!

The child who lost her entire family and was mortally wounded in a single moment of war - has been saved.

Thank you to everyone who joined in organising help to transport Sofia and her grandmother to Rome, all together we are working miracles!

A huge thank you to the country of Italy, which provided everything Sofia needed to live and gave her a chance to get back on her feet and live a full life today.

We are grateful to Slavna Dental Clinic, which supports Sofia during her return to Ukraine. This is the first essential for children who have lost EVERYTHING and are looking for the strength to live again!!!! You have been an incredible support for the girl and the grandmother.

Now the girl, like many other children and adults, needs to learn to live in the new realities. And we try most of all to make her fate happy and her future cloudless.
