A first birthday after overcoming hydrocephalus
A year ago, we were all fighting for little Dominik's life. Today, he is celebrating his very first birthday.
While Dominik's mother was still pregnant, doctors advised her to terminate the pregnancy because of a severe diagnosis – hydrocephalus. But she believed in her son, and together they began an extraordinary fight for his life.
Behind them are four complex brain surgeries, shunting, hospital rooms, endless worry, sleepless nights and countless prayers.
Today we received photos from his mother showing Dominik celebrating his first birthday. These are exactly the moments that inspire us to keep going every single day.
In the photos, he is smiling, blowing out his very first birthday candle, hugging the people he loves most and celebrating his first year of life.
Hydrocephalus treatment gave Dominik a chance to live
