New life stories

Today is a special day – little Olya is sleeping in her crib with her favorite toys. She is at home, surrounded by her loved ones, where she feels warm, comfortable, and safe. This became possible thanks to all of you – those who supported, helped, and believed in her recovery.

Little Olya was born with a severe diagnosis – Spina Bifida, one of the most complex congenital conditions. In the first days of her life, she underwent spinal cord surgery, which gave her the opportunity to live a fulfilling life and enjoy her childhood. A common consequence of Spina Bifida after spinal surgery is the development of hydrocephalus, requiring additional brain surgeries, including the placement of a drainage system, a reservoir, and eventually a shunt. Thanks to bloggers Anna and Julia, we were able to provide everything needed for these surgeries in time.

Spina Bifida is a diagnosis that requires urgent surgical intervention, often within the first hours after birth. Surgery helps close the spinal defect, reduce the risk of infections, and preserve the nervous system’s functions as much as possible. Without timely treatment, children with this condition may lose the ability to walk and face serious complications.

Despite the severity of the diagnosis, timely surgery and quality rehabilitation give these children a chance not only to survive but to lead a fulfilling life. Little Olya is an example of how the support of caring people and the professionalism of doctors can change destinies.
