Little Ivan is home!

Just a few weeks ago, this seemed impossible. The newborn boy was diagnosed with an intramedullary cyst in the cervicothoracic region of the spinal cord and was born completely paralyzed. However, thanks to the professionalism of the doctors at St. Nicholas Children's Hospital and the support of kind-hearted people, a true miracle happened!

In his first days of life, neurosurgeons performed a complex and high-risk surgery that lasted three hours. They successfully removed the tumor that was literally crushing the baby’s spinal cord. The very next day, physical therapists began working with him. Today, little Ivan is moving his arms and legs like any other baby!

Our organization, 'Mother and Child,' is grateful to have played a role in saving this little boy. Thanks to your support, we were able to provide all the necessary medical supplies for the surgery, allowing doctors to use the most advanced technologies and ensure Ivan received the best possible care.

We sincerely thank the medical team at St. Nicholas Children's Hospital for their professionalism, skill, and dedication. These are true heroes in white coats who fearlessly take on the most difficult challenges, giving children a chance at a full life. Head of the Neurosurgery Department Taras Mykytyn, neurosurgeon Ihor Homeniuk, anesthesiologists, intensive care specialists, physical therapists, and the entire medical staff – each one contributed their utmost efforts so that little Ivan could have a future free from pain and limitations. Their golden hands, unwavering care, and determination in fighting diseases truly create miracles. Thank you for every child’s life that you save!
