Friends, Viktoria has been discharged after another complex brain surgery.
Just two months ago, doctors couldn't say whether this little girl would survive. But today, Viktoria speaks, smiles, hugs her family and finally leaves the hospital walls.
On May 27, a Russian strike on a playground in Kherson changed the family's life forever. The father was killed, the mother suffered severe injuries and was admitted to intensive care, and three-year-old Viktoria – a severe traumatic brain injury.
Doctors from Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kyiv fought for her life.
The girl was unconscious for a week. After being transported to Kyiv, neurosurgeons urgently performed brain surgery – and Viktoria regained consciousness.
Behind her are two months of struggle, complex surgeries, intensive care and recovery.
Recently, Viktoria underwent another extremely complex surgery – reconstructive plastic surgery of the skull bones. The intervention was successful, and today Viktoria has been discharged from the hospital.
Now the girl, together with her family, lives in our Social Center, where they can stay free of charge during further treatment and rehabilitation.
All this time, we stayed close. Thanks to the reserve fund and your support, Viktoria was promptly provided with the necessary expensive medical supplies for urgent surgeries worth over one million hryvnias. This allowed doctors to act without delays when time was measured in hours.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the doctors of Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kyiv – neurosurgeons, intensive care doctors, anesthesiologists, nurses and everyone who fought for Viktoria's life.
We thank every benefactor and partner. Every contribution of yours became part of saving this child.
Treatment and rehabilitation still lie ahead. Now Viktoria is preparing for the next important stage – eye implantation.
We will continue to be by her side and her family.
And today, we just want to rejoice together.
Viktoria is alive. Viktoria is smiling. Viktoria is no longer in a hospital room. And she has a future.
Together we are a big heart that saves children.
