Baby with diagnosis of Spina Bifida goes home for the first time

Friends, we have important and bright news – our little ward Volodymyr has finally gone home. For the first time.

He was born with a diagnosis of Spina Bifida – a congenital developmental defect that requires urgent surgery in the first hours after birth. It is this first surgery that determines so much: whether the baby will be able to feel his legs, how his body will develop, and what his future life will be like.

Such children are born in different circumstances:
– sometimes the mother, after a difficult birth, is in another hospital and cannot even be nearby right away;
– sometimes the diagnosis was unknown before birth;
– sometimes there are only minutes to make decisions.

We never ask "why". We are simply there – helping, providing everything necessary so that the little one has a chance for a full life.

And today we rejoice for our little Volodymyr. He moves his legs, he is a fighter, he is very strong. And we all believe that the best path awaits him.

We have been by his side since the first hours of his life: providing consumables, diapers, baby food, hygiene products, supporting the family and interacting with doctors. For us, this is more than help – it is supporting a life that grows stronger every day.

Our deepest gratitude to the doctors of the Kyiv City Perinatal Center – specialists who save children with the most severe diagnoses every day, including babies with Spina Bifida and brain lesions.

Special thanks to:
– the head of the intensive care unit, Oksana Petrivna Gladyshko – for her care and wise decisions;
– neurosurgeons Nadiya Oleksandrivna Belkevych and Vadym Ivanovych Ziabchenko – for the life-giving skill;
– the entire multidisciplinary team – resuscitators, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and nurses.

Thank you for your professionalism, humanity and daily struggle where others see impossibility. You work miracles.

Thanks to Alina – for replenishing the Emergency Fund. It is thanks to you that we can act instantly when seconds count – especially for children like Volodymyr.

Gratitude to our partners:
– The Embassy of Finland in Kyiv – for warmth and attention;
– TM Betis – for cozy clothing;
– The ukr foundation – for diapers, hygiene products and nutrition;
– Humanitarian Nova Poshta – for fast deliveries of aid.

Today Volodymyr went home for the first time – to warmth, to his mother, into hugs, into love.
And we will be there further on.

Together we are a big heart that saves children.
