Happy Volunteer's Day! About the people who hold this world

Today is Volunteer's Day. A day for people for whom "impossible" does not exist. A day for those who do not pass by pain, do not turn away from others' misfortune, and do not wait for a convenient moment to do good.

A volunteer is not a profession. It is a state of the heart.
It is the decision to be there when it's scary.
It is the ability to act when others hesitate.
It is the light that appears where it is dark.

Every day, volunteers are the first by a child's side in intensive care.
The first to bring a thermos at night when there is no light.
The first to search for formula, medicine, diapers, warm clothes.
The first to meet mothers with infants at train stations.
The first to hold a hand when it seems there is no strength left.

Our volunteers are people who carry the burden of hundreds of stories.
Stories of pain.
Stories of struggle.
Stories in which every minute can decide a child's fate.

Often, they are not written about in the news.
Their names are rarely heard from the screens.
But they are the ones on whom rescue depends.

Volunteers are those who do not ask: "Is it difficult?"
They simply say: "I'm already on my way."
"I've already found it."
"I'm already here."

Today we want to say the most important word – thank you.
Thank you for the sleepless nights.
For the cold roads.
For the tears you hold back.
For the hands that do not give up.
For the hearts that do not grow cold even after the most terrible stories.

Thanks to you, children live.
Thanks to you, mothers are not left alone.
Thanks to you, there is hope in our world.

Being a volunteer is not about heroism.
It is about choice.
Choosing good.
Every day.
Again and again.

Thank you for being.
For holding this world on your shoulders.
For saving lives – quietly, without pathos, but truly.
