Kyrylo and his brother will receive treatment in Austria

On July 17, Ukraine was shaken by terrible news. As a result of a Russian drone attack on a residential building in the Chernihiv region, a family with three children was injured.

The most severe injuries were sustained by seven-year-old Kyrylo – the boy suffered severe burns, and from the first minutes after the tragedy, doctors fought for his life. His 17-year-old brother also suffered severe burns to his lower limbs.

After the first stage of treatment in Ukraine, it became clear: to increase the chances of survival and further recovery, the children needed highly specialized medical care abroad.

For six days, the team of the Charitable Organization "Mother and Child", together with doctors, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Austria, the Ministries of Internal Affairs of both countries, international partners, benefactors and foreign clinics, worked almost non-stop to organize the medical evacuation of the family to Austria.

This extremely complex international route was successfully implemented.

Today, Kyrylo and his family are already in the city of Graz, at the Universitätsklinik für Chirurgie – one of Europe's leading centers for the treatment of severe burns and reconstructive plastic surgery.

There, the children received a chance for further treatment, life-saving care and the maximum possible recovery after severe burn injuries.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the Ukrainian doctors from the Chernihiv region and Kyiv, who fought for the children's lives from the first minutes after the tragedy. It is thanks to their professionalism, resilience and dedication that the children's condition was stabilized and the next stage of treatment became possible.

We also express our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined the organization of this complex international medical evacuation. Only through the coordinated cooperation of doctors, state institutions of Ukraine and Austria, international partners and caring people was it possible to give the children a chance for treatment.

The team of the Charitable Organization "Mother and Child" will continue to accompany the family and provide necessary support at every stage of treatment and recovery.

There is still a long road ahead. But today, the most important thing is that Kyrylo and his brother have a chance to recover.

Together we are a big heart that saves children.
