Evacuation and transportation of children abroad for treatment during the war

Over 20 years, the All-Ukrainian charitable organization Mother and Child has learned that delaying in such cases is unacceptable, as the consequences can be dire. We knew we had to act immediately! Thanks to our international partners and compassionate individuals, we managed to arrange transportation for children to receive treatment in Italy from the early days of the war. Most of them have already received the necessary help and returned home. We continue to stay in touch with the families and cherish each story, as each represent a small victory.

 

One of these stories is the story of little Oleksiy from Kharkiv. He was born just before the war with a diagnosis of Spina Bifida. At 5 a.m. on February 24th, Anna's mother woke up to the sound of the explosions and realized that there was simply no way to protect her child while in the basement in that region. She sought help from caring people and found contacts of our organization. In the spring of 2022, through joint efforts, Anna and Oleksiy were transported to Rome, to the Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù clinic, where the baby underwent necessary operations and treatment.

 

Now the family is already in Ukraine, and Oleksiy delights everyone daily with his achievements. He has recovered and is developing fully. His smile is the greatest reward for all our efforts.
