Big dreams for children without parental care
15.05.2026
This is little Mykhailo. He is almost 2 years old.
In recent months, he has been living within the walls of Kyiv City Children's Hospital. Little Mykhailo is one of the wards of the Charitable Organization "Mother and Child", whom we systematically care for.
Currently, he is temporarily without parental care.
And for me, this is one of the greatest pains – to see children who are simultaneously undergoing treatment and rehabilitation while remaining without the constant care of a reliable adult nearby.
After the reform of boarding schools for children with disabilities, hundreds of children ended up in hospitals across Ukraine. There they receive the necessary medical care. Hospital teams do everything possible to keep these children safe, to undergo treatment and recover.
But a hospital is not a home.
A child needs not only procedures, medicines and care. Such children need systematic psychological support, the opportunity to regularly go outside, play with peers, learn and develop. They need care, a voice to read a bedtime story, arms to hug them. Within hospital walls, this is often difficult or impossible.
My first big dream is to find a loving family for little Mykhailo. A family that will be ready to accept him, go through the path of treatment and rehabilitation with him, invest in his health, development and future.
After more than twenty years of working with children, I know for sure: when there is timely investment in a child's health, when care, systematic support and faith appear nearby – children have a chance for a completely different life.
My second big dream is to create in Ukraine an orphanage, a rehabilitation center for orphans with disabilities who remain without parental care and need constant care, treatment and recovery.
A space where a child will not just stay, but grow. Where there will be medicine, rehabilitation, psychological support, development, human attention and warmth.
Because there are many children like little Mykhailo in Ukraine. And each such story requires not only compassion, but a systemic solution.
I strongly believe in compassion. I believe that when intentions are pure and the goal is to support a child, to give them the opportunity for a full life and a happy future – people who help make this happen will definitely appear nearby.
